I got the Creality Digital Spool Rack thinking that it seemed like a neat idea. But I didn't like the way in which it worked.
I then came across https://www.instructables.com/Digital-Spool-Holder-with-Scale/ (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5677322) and decided to try and do something similar with the parts I already had from the creality holder and an arduino.
In the Creality holder, the PCB screws into the front housing, and holds the screen and capacitive button in place, so this part is a 3D print that can replace the PCB, holding the display and button in place and screwing in via the original screw holes.
From there I put the boards for the HX711 and TM1637 where the battery used to live, and then ran wires out of the USB hole to an arduino.
Unfortunately, the capcitive button didn't work how I intended it too, I think it is too far away from the Arduino. But otherwise it works as intended.
