Cricket Bat

I jus wanted to practice a lil surface modelling so i tried out a simple design of a cricket bat . I hope the shape is nearly right ! I didn't know how to create the rubber sheath of the handle as a separate part , so i jus left the bat naked . Any suggestions to how that can be done ? that is the rubber sheath of the handle could be added as a separate part ? Thanks :)
