The Spartan is the conclusion one arrives at when trying to adress the issues of most command mechs: If your too far from the battleifeld, you cant lead effectivly, but if your too close, you might not end up spending much time commanding. Mixing missle weapons with short range laser punch, the Spartan can fight both at range and close up effectivly, allowing commanders using it to sit at a sweet spot close to the front line.
