Spinosaurus mirabilis is a recently described species of spinosaurid theropod from mid-Cretaceous deposits of the Sahara in Niger, expanding the diversity known within the genus Spinosaurus. The species is distinguished by an exceptionally tall, scimitar-shaped cranial crest, likely sheathed in keratin in life, interpreted as a display structure used for visual signaling rather than feeding.
