Custom Glow

Custom Glow, a customizable table top lamp. The lamp is comprised of two parts – a round base that encompasses the light source and electrical circuitry and an upper portion which is detachable and therefore can be designed in a way to suit the space deco. Additive manufacturing offers a lot of capabilities for customization and cost benefits compared to injection molding when manufacturing in smaller quantities. The decoration needs of a space are dynamic. Therefore, this will be a suitable product for restaurants or gathering spaces where the table top lamps can be customized based on the time of the year, festivities and preferences. I’ve proposed two custom designs in this submission – a lamp top with twisted curves and a lamp top that blends with a Christmas theme. The product can be printed using Fused Filament Fabrication method. The top hollow parts will require minimum support materials and can be printed using a translucent polymer which allows light to pass through. The base can be printed using a polymer with high thermal conductivity to enable heat transfer from LED. The base and the top portion should be printed separately. The model is scaled to fit within 120x120x120mm size constraint.
