Continuing with my OpenSCAD spree, I parameterized the [hot glue stick dispenser](http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:792156) I did earlier. Now you can make a dispenser for any cylindrical object, such as the AAA batteries shown.
It should also work for small "nugget" type objects like nuts, as long as you turn off the front openings (by setting them to zero).
The AAA battery holder shown is a little small, since I only wanted to test the script, but it should be able to produce storage of any arbitrary size and strength.
