So this was my grad project from UNSW Art and Design.
The project is all about reuse and hinges on the idea that much of the furniture/off cut materials thrown away can be made into new pieces by cutting them up and joining them back together with 3D printed connectors.
The beauty of 3D printing the connectors is that the user can input the size/shape of their materials into the thingiverse customiser model and print a connector that exact size!
The system is supposed to be a bit of an exercise in open design, users can muck around with the different connectors, improve upon them or create new ones with simple 3D modelling.
I think (hope!) it's a fairly easy system to understand, basically there's the housing pieces and the plugs. The cutout in the plug can be sized to the material to be inserted and then the plug is plugged into any of the housings to make all kind of shapes.
I don't feel like its a completed project yet, there's definitely still room for improvemen
