Customizable Task Lamp

This is a bare-bones monitor task lamp for those who are willing to do a little work to save a lot of money.

Scrounge your junk pile for a bit of LED strip left over from another project and a power supply that matches the LED voltage. Experiment a little with how much light you need, I found that three LEDs was just right for my use, your needs may be different.

Once you know your needs take a few measurements:

- Length of your LED strip (mine was 102.2 mm)
- Width of your LED strip (mine as 8.3mm)
- Thickness of your monitor (mine was 17.7mm)
- The angle of the back of your monitor (mine was 2 degrees)
- How deep you want the lamp to be (I went with 30mm)
- The angle of the lamp from the monitor (I used 15 degrees)
- How much the bottom of the lamp should slope, this will keep any light reflecting off the back of the lamp holder from hitting your eyes (I used 5 degrees)
