"Cyborg Beast" is a prosthetic hand developed by Jorge Zúñiga, Ivan Owen and Peter Binkley.
In order to adapt this hand to be used for cycling, which is a frequent requirement in children, the Laboratory of 3D Innovation of the Center for Advanced Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry of the University of Concepción, made changes to the original design for this purpose.
The original design was modified by adding a rigid palm, composed of an arch which generates a concavity (FIG 1 and 1) which adapts to the handle of the bicycle. This arch of 35.8 mm length is inclined in 21.65 degrees to the front side in order to apply the required load to control the bicycle. Also, this allows an adequate distribution of the possible impacts received without the need of closing the hand.
