"Life is suffering, thus it is the act of the truly compassionate to EXTERMINATE EXTERMINATE! "
( The Dalek Buddha)
The Dalek Buddha is one of Davrose's less successful and lesser known creations. Although it never actually appeared in an episode of Doctor Who, the more attentive viewer may have picked up on the odd allusion to the existence of Dalek Buddha, worked into the script of other episodes, over the years.
According to Doctor Who canon the Dalek Buddha prototype was destroyed by the first Daleks, shortly after their activation. This ignominious end can most likely be attributed to Dalek Buddha’s real world creator Terry Nation (a writer at the BBC for Doctor Who series). It is believed Nation wanted to kill off his creation after falling out of love with it, as is hinted at by this unsubstantiated quote, from a former BBC employee who claims to have overheard Nation saying:
“…It’s offensive, it’s unrealistic and it’s @#£%ing stupid even by the standards of the show
