I developed this project because I needed a way to mount a 2" filter inside the 48mm adapter of my RedCat telescope. One side of the filter has 48mm threads and fits onto the adapter but this adds to the length of the optical train. Mounting it inside the adapter, the backfocus is not affected.
With fingers alone, I can't properly grasp the filter to maneuver it into the throat of the adapter and, once there, it's impossible to rotate the filter to engage the threads inside. Worse, I misread the instructions and removed the scope's entire rotator assembly through which the reach is more than an inch-and-a-half to the internal threads. My bad but that's why the wrench is that tall.
There's very little clearance between the outside of the filter ring and the inside wall of the adapter. This wrench fits snugly inside the metal ring of the filter and grasps it from there. It's snug enough to hold the filter and persuade it to take a few turns onto the threads of the adapter. Then, ro
