Gun Safe Desiccant Box with Hair Dryer Regeneration Port A desiccant box designed to live in your gun safe and keep your firearms rust-free. Holds several pounds of silica gel beads and includes a built-in regeneration system — no more spooning beads into a microwave and stirring them around over and over while they dry. How It Works The box has a perforated floor that creates an air plenum underneath the desiccant bed. When your indicating silica gel changes color and needs regeneration, pull the box out of the safe, insert your hair dryer into the port on the side, and turn it on. Mine takes about 10 minutes to dry the desiccant. (Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't overheat or catch fire.) Hot air fills the plenum and flows upward through the entire volume of desiccant evenly, driving out moisture without any need to stir.
