Hello everyone, Here's a project of mine, infinity mirror. For a few years I've seen such an illusion project and I didn't understand how something like that could be built, but a few months ago I took the time to try. I also tried some pieces I designed in Tinkercad. It definitely didn't work out on the first try, I lost material that I didn't have (I went to someone, but it still matters that it was material and time wasted, plus some money), but I noticed some things, I improved them and I got an ok version. Dimensions: • 241mm x 183mm x 19mm inner frame (without fasteners); • 226mm x 168mm gap; • 247mm x 189mm x 24mm outer frame (without fasteners); • 228mm x 170mm gap; • and the thickness is 2mm. To connect the frames, I used M3 screws, something that fits well into the material. I can't tell you what settings are needed on the printer, I don't have one, I just went to someone and asked them to try the parts. I only know the material, white PLA. I used a simple mirror with a stand on the back (but it's not that great), I wanted it to be as light as possible. It also has a notch, it's also designed for hanging on a wall, so I made a cutout in the 3D piece. Inside I have RGB LEDs, 60 LEDs/m, with a 12V power supply reused from an old household appliance. I didn't have transparent plexiglass so I used a window pane, basically I saved money. The recovered glass was not in the best condition (it has a few chips and scratches from the cut), but even in this condition I still managed to apply a film over it (no one is looking at it 😆). It is a rather heavy glass, 3mm thick, it is mounted over the frame from the inside (they have approximately the same dimensions) and when I mount the outer frame, this presses and keeps it fixed. I calculated the heights of the frames just enough to keep the glass in place, meaning it doesn't move at all. Do you like it? For a DIY version and low cost resources I say it can get a passing grade.
