DIY Multi-purpose Light Build

Uses: Work light, aquarium light, plant grow light, UV light, Ect...

I've built several of these lights and I love them. They are very useful and easy to build out of old parts you probably have lying around. I've been using them as work lights, aquarium lights, plant grow lights, and for some UV light fun.

The hope is that this will be a very cheap and easy build. The housing is sized for a snug press fit of an 80mm x 80mm CPU fan. It accepts a range different sized heat sinks, or you can use small piece of metal sheeting to sink the LED's. I've had success using leftover 12V power supplies from old routers. The fan is wired directly to the power supply and the LED's are wired in series. I'd recommend using an LM317 to control current to the LED's but you can get away with just using a resistor and depending on the supply wiring the LED directly to it. Check wikipedia for info. Since this setup is very well cooled my lights lave lasted thousands
