DIY Water Filter

This was an "Innovation Project" design for our students' FLL Robotics Program. They designed a 3D printable Water Filter.

The idea is to print 2 of the Bottle Connectors. They work with 2-liter bottles or similar water bottles. One is used for dirty water and the other collects clean water.

The Filter Tube needs to be filled with layers of sand and charcoal. At the bottom of the Filter Tube, you use a coffee filter or any filter cloth such as a T-Shirt to prevent the sand and charcoal from escaping through the holes.

There is a Disc that you should also wrap in a similar coffee filter or cloth. This Disc gets pushed into the Filter Tube into a slot on the top of the sand or charcoal to prevent it from escaping out the top. It also allows for replacement or cleaning of the cloth as it gets dirty.
