The DM51/DM51A1 explosive/fragmentation grenade is the standard hand grenade of the German Bundeswehr, with DM standing for "German model". Its introduction in 1974/75 replaced the DM41 fragmentation hand grenade and the DT11, DT11B1 and DM21 explosive hand grenades used in the Bundeswehr.
