This is a string dampener / muter, intended to clip onto the strings between the tailpiece and the bridge (on a squareneck resonator / dobro). This prevents the dissonant ringing of those stretches of strings when you're chopping (and just in general, but I only notice when I'm muting and chopping).
This works with standard dobro string spacing at the bridge, and a Beard style tailpiece. My digital calipers read 2 15/64" or 56.66mm from the outside edges of the log G and high D strings.
It'd probably work for a guitar with the same tailpiece approach, though you may need to tweak the length according to your bridge spacing and tailpiece. Could also likely be tweaked for other instruments like a banjo or a mandolin, though you'd definitely need to adjust the size.
To create it, just print it, then grab a little bit of felt and put little dabs of superglue to stick it in. The felt should go edge to edge, including under the little clippy bits. Make sure you put the glue between
