I am fascinated by the dodecahedron form. In the 2nd and 3rd century AD Dodecahedrons were manufactured in the Roman Empire.
Now I wanted to see if I would be able to make a 3D model of one myself. Thinking of how to construct one was quite a challenge. But when you have come up with a strategy it is quite straight forward (and to be honest, quite repetitive ;-)).
Then I thought what a nice wrapping it would make. The friends of my eldest mostly ask for money for a present at their birthday party, which is unexiting to give. But money encased in a dodecahedron is much more fun. So while printing I inserted some coins.
I included two .stl files. One which is solid. This is the one I used for the giftwrapping, because ultimaker will take the minimum thickness possible when you tell it to use no filling. The other .stl is with shell with a thickness of the walls of .75 mm. This will give them a little more strength.
Enjoy printing!
