I made this to help me determine the proper Z offset when I change nozzles. It’s cheap, easy to make, easy to use, and works really well surprisingly.

To me, using the piece of paper seems about as accurate as guessing sometimes. We really need to be accurate down to less than 0.01 mm. I have a hard time believing we get that with a strip of paper as a feeler gauge. I wanted something quick, easy and precise when I change nozzle sizes or doing maintenance on the hot end.

It’s really just a base to hold a cheap flashlight from the Dollar Tree. :)
Get the round plastic one. They are soft plastic and easy to mod. And for a buck it covers a lot of what you need, LED, battery holder, on/off switch.
But I'm sure just about any flashlight would work.

It should print without any supports. The gaps in it aren’t that big and should easily bridge.

You'll need:
The printed base
Aluminum foil
A piece of small wire, 8 inches or so long
An Alligator clip
