Door Latch Strike

Is the wood split or damaged on the side from the door latch being screwed in several times? Or is the latch too short for the replacement handle? This printable model should fix those issues, I have had both for my screen doors on every house or apartment I have lived in. Slotted screw holes coming in version 2
