Dovetail tripod strap mount

I have a ProMaster XC-M 525 tripod, and I lost the strap holster. I didn't like it much anyway. The tripod has a nice place at the base to clip onto, but nothing on top. This is an experiment to see if I can use a dovetail mount for a strap hook. That way, I can more comfortably sling the tripod across my back when walking out to a site. I imagine this should work with most tripods with a dovetail bracket. This is not meant to hold the whole weight on its own, but be the lower of two connections, mostly holding things in place, while the other clip point takes most of the weight to my shoulder. I did have to add a carabiner, though a ring or any other clip should work; the snap on the end of the strap I am using is too narrow to fit on the loop.
