This adaptor allows a soldering iron to be mounted in a drill press (drill stand) so it can be used to press brass threaded inserts into 3d prints. The actual diameter of the adaptor is nearly 44mm which suited my drill press. The nominal size of the collar on standard drills is 43mm but drill presses usually have a device to clamp down to this size so a slightly larger adaptor was selected. If you find the adaptor is too large for your drill press then I can easily provide variations. Similarly the soldering iron I used had a taper with a maximum diameter of 14.5mm. The central hole in the adaptor is tapered so is designed to fit with the outer lip uppermost as shown in the photographs. The adaptor tapers from about 14.55mm to 14.2mm over the 22.55mm depth. If your soldering iron has a differently sized taper then it may not fit. Printed in PLA but if your soldering iron gets VERY hot this may damage the adaptor and a material that is more suited to high temperatures should be selecte
