HDD drive rack
I designed this rack to hold 16 drives in total. 8 3.5inch drives and 8 2.5inch drives.
If you're anything like me. You have a pile of decent, salvaged drives lying around the house. With a rack like this, you can organize them neatly in one location and wire them into a DAS storage.
What you'll need:
HBA Raid card - im using this one: https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005956392017.html?
SAS to x4 sata cable - https://aliexpress.com/item/1005006245221731.html?
One or two 120mm fans - im using these cheap ones - https://aliexpress.com/item/1005002642198655.html?
M3 threaded inserts - https://aliexpress.com/item/1005006071488810.html?
Optional dampening pads - https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005854472187.html?
*I also tested regular sata expansion cards but i found them unreliable and slow, Raid cards are the best solution here. Just install the raid card, connect SAS to sata cables, connect all drives and set up the software raid via windows drive pool configur
