One of the complaints about Mechen hands is that elastics or springs are used to extend fingers. When flexing, the user has to fight the resistance of these elastics or springs, reducing the strength of grip.
So here's a tentative solution. There's a rod that pushes a mechanism on a hinge during extension, and engages extension cables.
So instead of 5 cables and 5 elastics, this uses 10 cables. The flexor cables should be heavy-duty and have close to zero stretch, but the extensors could just be 60-pound nylon monofilament.
