I bought a cheap 1/4 sheet pad sander off amazon to make sanding some drywall easier, but it had an odd dust collector output nozzle.
The small end fits inside the sander's output nozzle - i added one wrap of masking tape for a bit of 'stiction'
The large end fits:
- inside a rigid 2-1/2 vac hose
- over the gray hose that came with a hand-held dustless sander (and using the adapters that came with that kit to extend the vacuum's built-in hose, you get a nice long, light hose for easier use)
- over a Shop-Vac brand 1-1/4" (30mm end) hose. This does require a rather long tip on the vacuum's hose; mine is >65mm. An additional step inside the large end would allow shorter tips to embed. In this design, the fit is loose so I added three strips lengthwise inside the smaller end which allows a bit more airflow.
I suspect it will be better for the vacuum to drill a few holes in the bell to provide enough airflow for motor cooling
