Makes
Motorized spinning turntable / display stand, also suitable for 3D scanning.
Rotation speed: 1 RPM exactly.
Features:
- Months of continuous operation on a single AA battery(*)
- Ultra-easy build
- Silent
- Very cheap (around $2)
(*) a generic cheap alkaline AA "Varta High Energy" lasted nearly 6 months. You can expect more from high-quality batteries.
Shortcomings:
- low torque and weight capacity
- no simple on/off (albeit with this battery usage that's not a problem)
- somewhat flimsy
Artifacts:
- cheapo quartz clock movement (the variant with a small hanger and metal hands. There's a slightly cheaper variant that has plastic hands also sold, big red seconds hand, no hanger, but it 'ticks' the seconds, the hand jerking ahead and stopping in 1-second cycles. The one I linked below turns continuously, smoothly)
- one AA battery
Parametric FreeCAD project attached if you want different dimensions or fit a different clock movement. STLs are three sizes of the table (80, 120
