칠기장 모서리 경첩이 모서리 파손을 위해 부착하였다면, 모서리보호대는 집에 있는 모서리 부분에 유아들이 부딪히며 다치는 경우를 방지하기 위해 칠기장의 모서리 경첩을 응용하여 제작하였고, 문양의 단순함을 피하기 위해 봉황의 문양을 넣었다.
