Electro-Tape

My extreme redesign idea is a tape measure that has a small motor allowing a person to extend and retract the tape measure with the press of a finger. It allows the person to measure long distances without needing another person to hold the end of the tape measure as well as allowing a person to extend it to measure long horizontal distances without the need for a ladder to reach the top of your measurement or trying to balance the tape while extending, with the nice edition of a thicker tape line allowing it to reach further without bending and snapping. Although other effective ways to measure exist like laser line measuring devices they can be expense, tricky to use, and are impractical for small construction site 1 on 1 use. A nice feature of the tape measure is that it still operates as a normal tape measure when the battery charge is lost, as well as the charging port working with most drill chargers meaning most if not all constructions sites should have the ability to cheaply and effectively charge and use this device.
