The Elements pebble is a sensory piece that takes its inspiration from natural forms and textures aiming to promote a visual and tactile exploration of the multiple creative possibilities enlarged by the polyjet 3D printing technology. As a pocket sensory garden, this pebble flow from one layer to the next, changing through its way from texture, color, and surface; revealing a harmonic ensemble of many different ensembled solutions. The piece is made of five layers with different proprieties. The first and more external one possess a rocky rough surface and an opaque color, evoking the outlook of a stone. The second one has a plain and smooth texture, contradicted by its complex layers of solid and transparent materials that seems like drops of paint stirred and frozen in solid water. The third and central layer is made of a solid rigid wire that supports the thin and flexible membrane in its interior; the assembly arch itself like a kite through the space beneath itself and also works as a lid, protecting the fourth layer underneath. This one is made of a set of long, thin flexible stalks that seems to grow amidst the rest of the assembly. As the fifth and last one, a group of transparent rings loop between all the previous layers, keeping the set together as one and at the same time isolating each part as an independent island. The overall piece was projected with the Stratasys J750 materials and procedures in mind, although it can be printed with other resins and printers if adaptations follows similar proprieties. The materials and specifications used were the following: 1st Layer – VeroBlackPlus, VeroMagenta-V and Agilus30White (HEX #7A7A7A) 2nd Layer – VeroClear, VeroCyan-V, veroYellow-V and VeroMagenta-V. 3rd Layer – VeroBlackPlus and Agilus30White. 4th Layer – VeroCyan-V, veroYellow-V and Agilus (FLXA-CYT5-S60-DM_vivid). 5th Layer – VeroClear. The set is to be printed assembled as one piece, with Matte finish. Layers 2 and 5 need post processing with sanding
