This was drawn in Fusion 360 using a 3d model of a T-nut from McMaster Carr.
I feel like this will make a very strong knob. Between the shape of the top and the four prongs driven into the knob, I don't think it will fail in normal use. We'll see.
I included the Fusion file so you can use the insert shape and make any sort of knob you wish.
