As a commuter cyclist I love this challenge and I think the key to this challenge is simplicity and robustness, I have designed a simple inner ring which is held in place with cone point grub screws, these also pin the bar tape to the handle bars, it is envisaged that it would be machined out of aluminum (but could also be injection molded from a fibre filled nylon as it is not visible), this component is common for both the inner and outer end caps. The outer ring is thread internally and screws in place to hide the grub screws. The machining is fairly simple so the manufacturing cost should be low. This design also permit’s many variations to the outer profile, so many different designs are possible without a major design change. The end cap could have the logo laser etched directly or have an insert as I have shown.
