Exacto Hobby Knife Cap

I didn't like the cap that came with my Exacto knife so I designed my own.

This is designed to fit the standard aluminum hobby knife with a round 8mm handle. The cap has flat sides to keep the knife from rolling. The internal notch accommodates blades up to 10.4mm wide and 25MM long. I believe that includes most standard blades.

The cap itself is sized to fit very snugly around the knurled aluminum handle. I also added some small tabs around the inside of the cap's opening to make the perfect pressure-fit onto the knife's handle.

These internal tabs are intentionally slightly oversized. You will need to brute-force the cap onto the handle on the first fitting (for safety, remove the blade from the handle before attempting this). As you force the cap onto the handle the knurling of the aluminum will work like a file to shave the edges of the internal tabs and result in a perfect fit.
