I was looking for something like that and loved the idea but wanted to make it a bit more "stylish". My USB connector is a bit loose so this was not so much as "protection" but more like "I need this to ensure the cable stays there and also that it doesn't get worse".
Technically I made a small mistake and left a 0.1mm line that should work ok as a support inside the model.
Works for any external disk with ~119cm x ~17cm
