Extruder Coolers for Prusa MK3 and MK3s.
Printing PLA there are occasional misprints because no more filament is being extruded. Did not have that problem with my MK2s. Noticed the filament in the extruder was basically shaved to a smaller diameter on most occasions. By the gears. My theory is that the extruder motor gets too hot. Too hot for the PLA filament with >60degrees measured. So when there is a printing phase with a relatively long phase of no extrusion (e.g. longer moves across the bed) PLA gets soft and the gears are no longer able to grip the filament firmly enough.
The Heat from motor is transferred to the gears via axis.
Happened when temperatures rise (longer prints, hotter Summer temps in the room, Enclosure for sound dampening etc.
With the extruder cooler the motor runs about 15-20 degrees cooler. Bad PLA prints due to non-extrusion stopped for me using the mk3 cooler. When switching to mk3s this started again. So designed a mk3s version.
