The wooden laser cradle construction that you get with the FabScanPi kit is IMHO unsuitable for daily use. Accidentally touched, you have to calibrate new. If you glue it, you have no chance for corrections.
This remix - a very stable construction - is a fusion of different sources.
The height of the laser (ø12mm) position is 64 mm. That is the same height as if the laser would be fixed on the wooden part.
