Face

My name is Gryph, and I'm a 3rd-year student at Wintec in Hamilton, graduating at the end of this year with a bachelor's in Contemporary Art. One of my final classes is called Capstone, and in this class we are required to create a work that encapsulates what we have developed within our artistic style over the years and is our big “final” project.

My project is to create an art installation of 3-D printed objects created by others in the 3-D printing community. I have described it as crowd-sourced assembly line art, where I will provide an STL file for people to print for me.

To summarise, in 2022 I printed a project titled 25 SELF PORTRAITS which was 25 identical 3-D prints, skewed in a way that you could only tell it was a face by looking at the right angle. I am carrying over this concept with a fresh scan, and with the same illusion/effect.
