Another fan guard design based on Crazy Jaw's Lazy Fan Guard concept. Tried a few others but none quite did it for me. With one design I still managed to destroy a fan since the holes were too big. So I wanted one that fitted snug, could be left on, even when cleaning the extruder and that didn't have too much open space in front. This one appears to give enough air intake and is very difficult to poke the allen key through.
I printed it with 0 shells and 100% so it would be nice a solid piece. I use Sailfish on my Rep1 and turned the acceleration down a little for this print. You need support for the catches. The catches will work with the fans my Bot1 came with. These are about 10.5mm deep. The fit is snug and the 1.5mm wall thickness sandwiches this nicely in place. You may want to clean up the holes by hand with a 3mm drill bit before installing. To install, loosen the screws so the fan is free of the extruder assembly. Then tighten in place.
I don't notice any whistling noi
