Filament Cleaver

This device is a 2-part filament cleaver using a standard razor blade, a blade holder and a main frame.


You can cut 1.75 and 3mm filaments or other soft materials.

The advantage to using a cleaver over scissors is the clean, perfectly angled mating surface for joining two filaments together.

Once the cleave is complete, you would use your own method for joining the filament, such as heat and shape using aluminum. More to come on this later.

I designed the blade holder to be as safe as possible, reducing the risk of cutting yourself, by recessing the blade beneath the surface. Still, be careful; razor blades are super sharp and can injure you.
