Filament Holder for Creality Ender 3 (Pro)
I designed this assembly because I wanted a filament holder that aligned the pivot point of the holder with the center axis of the spool. I also wanted the filament coming off of the spool to be optimally aligned with the extruder. Finally, I wanted a method to support the filament spool on both sides while still allowing for the filament spool to be easily changed.
The final design consists of seven printed parts; left and right brackets, left and right arms, two caps and a spool. The brackets mount to the left frame rail with four M5x10mm bolts and four M5 T-slot nuts. The caps are connected to the spool via bearings. The spool/cap assembly then sits in the slots on the arms.
The assembly I printed for myself works flawlessly. It is easy to change filament and it feeds into the extruder without having to bend through any extreme angles.
