I leave PLA filament in my AMS for months at a time with no humidity control. Roughly 10% of the time I will find a bunch of broken pieces of filament in the PTFE feed tubes, even though the roll of filament is still flexible and not brittle like the sample that breaks in the fixture. It is more common with the lighter colors. It is a pain to remove so I started investigating what causes some filament(PLA) to break in the feed tubes. I have eliminated humidity, and an interaction with the PTFE in the feed tubes. The breakage is caused by the filament being straightened, or curved differently than it was on the roll it came on. This fixture allows you to insert filament samples from each new roll to see if they will break in a 7 - 14 day period, if they do, it is guaranteed they will break in the AMS if left there for a couple weeks. When you find a filament that breaks, mark the roll so you unload it when you are done printing, there is nothing wrong with it, it just can't be subje
