I wanted a finger joint jig to allow me to cut very accurate finger joints with a single blade but have the cut twice the width of the blade kerf. This jig will cut finger joints of 5.6mm with a 2.8mm kerf blade.
If you also build an accurate sled you can very rapidly cut finger joints with my jig.
My jig will need you to fabricate other parts to have a working jig.
You can print all three parts without any supports on an FDM printer.
The parts explained:
The pattern part is used to index the jig part whose teeth engage with the pattern. The spacer part is used to space the joints on the second piece of timber so that they precisely interface with the joints on the first piece of timber.
There are many simple diy finger joint jigs in the wild and I found all of them to be disappointing, inconsistent or fiddly to operate. My jig makes super accurate and consistent joints very rapidly.
I hope you can find it of some use.
