First Grade Irregular Sight Word Blocks

As a teacher and homeschool parent I am always looking for ways to make learning fun. Sight word practice is often a struggle so I created these sight word blocks to help find new ways to practice those difficult sight words with my students and kids. This set is made up of 60 irregular words meant for first grade learners that are more challenging because they are harder to sound out. With more play based practice the hope is that the words will become easier to read over time. Suggested practice and game ideas:Free Play - Introduce the blocks and see how the learner interacts on their own. I Spy - Place a few blocks in a set game space. Player one says "I spy the word ________". Player two tries to find the word. They keep the block if they find it. Player one can also give clues to help them. “It starts with a ___.” “It rhymes with ________. ” “It ends with _____. ”Sorting- Try sorting the words with your learner.
