Fisheye Lens Cap

I have a Vivitar Series 1 8mm f:3.5 Fisheye lens. I removed the lenshood so that it wouldn't show up in the pictures on my Canon 5D. This left me without a properly useable lens cap for it.

This lens cap looks a lot like a couple of others but I created it from scratch because of the specifics of this lens (i.e. that I took some tools to it and removed the lens hood).

I measured it out with my calipers. The fit is tight which is good because the cap won't slip off by accident. Not so good because I have to work it off slowly. Another 0.1mm, though and it might have been loose.

The outside doesn't look great - maybe I should have left the supports in place. A bit of sanding and polishing and I'm sure it will look fantastic - I'll do that on a day when I'm feeling more ambitious..
