I've seen lots of dry-box inserts that are print-in-place and, as a result, compromise on airflow, material usage, and print speed (modeling a million tiny holes as solid objects generates an inefficient g-code). I’ve got about 20+ cereal boxes I was looking to outfit so finding an efficient solution seemed worth the initial design effort! This design utilizes a simple slot-and-tab assembly which allows the entire unit to be printed as a series of flat 1.5mm thick faces (no supports). Custom modifier parts were designed and configured to expose the infill on these flat patterns where needed (removes top and bottom layers). As a result, this entire print plate, which generates a single (195mm x 55mm x 38mm) dry box with integrated hygrometer mount capable of holding up to 200 grams of desiccant, uses only 56 grams of filament and prints in 1.5 to 2.5 hrs depending on speed (found no issues using ludicrous mode).
