Flatland Chess Set

This chess set design take its primary inspiration from the book, as well as the film
adaptation of Abbott’s novel Flatland. The base features a chess board built for those who appreciate experimental aesthetics and on-the-go travel! The squares are multi-leveled to communicate the unseen dimensions shapes can possess that go unseen to our three-dimensional eye. The playing board removes from the top and can be filled over to be placed within its supporting box underneath. The supporting box can also house the playing figures. All of the figures are based on characters of the novel and the visual interpretation inspired by Flatland’s film adaptation. The characters live in an organized hierarchy based on their number of dimensions and sides, with circles having the most sides (infinite) and triangles at the lowest tier.
