flopping fish automaton

The goal of this project was to design a 3D-printed automaton according to our own imagination and other automaton inspirations online. Once all parts were assembled to the best of our capability, we tested to see how they worked and post-processed our parts to have the automaton function.

Our project is a 3D printed flopping fish. We created a box 20cm long that fit the fish's body parts. Through the use of eight cams, we were able to create a repetitive bouncing motion. My partner and I hand-designed each part prior to 3D design to find appropriate dimensions for all parts of the automaton.
