Folding adjustable phone stand

Hi everyone,

This is my journey of creating a portable phone stand inspired by the functionality of a Leatherman multitool, a daily essential in my bag. Initially, I began with the switchblade-style hinge mechanism for its versatility but quickly realized the limitations of a fixed-width back support, especially for accommodating various device sizes and orientations from the first prototype. This prompted the idea to incorporate an adjustable back support.

After multiple design iterations trying to get the sliding back support and print-in-place main hinge to work, I finally arrived at this evolved design, as in the last photo.

The pivotal adjustable hinge adapts to different device sizes by opening up to a 90-degree angle. The sliding back support offers a range of viewing angles, with multiple detents ensuring stability in each position. When not in use, the stand neatly folds into a compact form for portability.
