here is my take on a folding knife. It uses a standard box cutter blade. its pretty simple, practical, and very sharp... be careful while putting them together. the shopping list: Spring (1x) Wire size: 0.7 OD: 7mm Length: 25mm Screws (6x total, 3mm) Style and length are up to you, pick what feels right for you (more on that below) Assembly Notes (important stuff, read this part): To hold the blade section together, you’ll need three screws. ⚠️ One of these MUST be machine screws, or the knife will refuse to close. ⚠️ I used: Two 3x5 machine screws One 3x5 hex socket screw, which doubles as a thumb assist for opening the knife (because style matters) Body Assembly: The body needs three 3mm screws to hold everything together. Length depends on the look you’re going for. Right now, mine is temporarily held together with three 3x15 machine screws while the correct ones are still shipping (the true maker experience always waiting on screws). Eventually, I’ll switch to six screws total, using three 3x5 machine screws per side for maximum aesthetics. Your options: Symmetry lovers: Use six 3x5 machine screws (same look on both sides 😌) Function over fashion (ew): Use three 3x5 machine screws Best of both worlds (like mine): Use three 3x15 machine screws Magnets (because magic): Two 7x2mm round magnets These keep the knife snapped closed and behaving itself....this addition is brough to you by learning the hard way.
