Frame Mounted Spool Holder

Here is a frame mounted spool holder that I designed for my Creality CR-10S. I did not like the fact that it fed from the side, so I designed this to mount it on the top.

This design uses 4 skateboard bearings for the two rollers and it moves surprisingly smoothly as a result.

This was designed with strength in mind, and I printed it in Blue PETG - it feels really strong and doesn't even flex with a roll of filament on it.

I made the length bigger than the average spool to accommodate most spool sizes, and there is a 'lip' on each roller to keep the spool located in the same place when it rolls.

The four pins are knurled so that it is easy to take them out without tools.

I put four holes in the top, so that the spool holder can be secured. As you can see in the pictures, I only use 2 bolts and it isn't going anywhere!

I am in the process of deigning and optimising some filament guides that go with this design.
