🍎 Fruit Fly Trap – Simple, Reusable & Effective Tired of fruit flies taking over your kitchen? This compact fruit fly trap is an easy, reusable solution that blends into your countertop while doing the job 24/7. The funnel design lets fruit flies find their way in—but makes it very difficult for them to find their way back out. Print a few in different colors, place them near fruit bowls, plants, compost bins, or anywhere fruit flies like to gather. 🖨️ Print Settings For a watertight trap, I recommend: 5 walls (perimeters) 100% infill No supports required 0.2 mm layer height works great Using 5 walls and solid infill helps prevent tiny leaks and makes the cup completely watertight. 🎨 Color Suggestions I like printing the cup in black and the funnel/cap in a bright color, especially yellow. Bright colors (particularly yellow) are known to attract many flying insects, including fruit flies, so a brightly colored funnel may help draw their attention while also making the trap look great. Some popular color combinations: 🖤 Black + Yellow 🖤 Black + Orange 🖤 Black + Purple ⚪ White + Green 🔵 Navy + Orange 🪰 Bait Options Fill the trap with one of these mixtures: Option 1 (Recommended) Apple cider vinegar 2–3 drops of dish soap The vinegar attracts the flies, while the dish soap breaks the surface tension so they sink instead of escaping. Option 2 Red wine 2–3 drops of dish soap Leftover red wine works surprisingly well and is another favorite bait for fruit flies. Fill only the bottom of the cup—you don't need much liquid. 📍 Where to Place It For the best results, place the trap: Near fruit bowls On kitchen counters Next to compost bins Near indoor plants Anywhere you've noticed fruit flies ♻️ Reusable When the trap is full: Empty the contents.
